About Me
Woolgrub was born out of a frustration I found with two of my favourite accessories for babies - swaddles and sleeping bags. My babies loved being wrapped, but I struggled to find a muslin wrap larger than a square metre in most large retail stores. I also wondered why baby sleeping bags were not more versatile, allowing a child to be able to walk around in them as well as sleep. These two products I had were also produced overseas and the sleeping bag made out of polyester. I thought, 'Oh my goodness, why am I putting my precious kids in horrid synthetic fibres? Why am I potentially buying garments that are made in sweatshops? And why am I not doing more to support the Australian textile industry as well?'
I am driven to provide parents and carers with better options for their kids. I create textile products that are made wholly in Australia, and not just the garments, the fabrics as well. I vow to use only natural or organic fibres as these are so much better for children's skin and the environment. My final aim is to reignite other people's passion for wool…a wonderful fibre that breathes and can help regulate body temperature, the perfect fibre for our babies and children.
So Woolgrub, my third 'grub' is growing up, colourful like my other two and with a hint of brown…just the way mummy likes it!
And I hope your little 'grub' enjoys their Woolgrub gear.
Cheers,
Lou Dolben
